Welcome! We're glad you're checking us out!

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-wracking. We want to help make your first experience at College Heights a great one!

Our address is 4311 E Newman Road near the junction of Newman and Duquesne. We are located to the east of MSSU.

We know...our building is a little crazy. The best place to enter is to turn off of Newman Road into Entrance C and park in the Guest Parking Lot. If it's full, there is more parking on the north side of the Worship Center. (If you click on the image below, it will enlarge.)

If you drive in Entrance C or D, you'll then enter doors that look like this:

Once you enter, look for the Welcome Center. We have volunteers who are happy to help you, answer questions you may have, and get your kids checked in (at our New Family Check-In) to the right classes.

We have two Sunday morning services: one at 9:15 AM and one at 11:00 AM.  They typically run about an hour and ten minutes (give or take a few depending on who’s preaching).

HAVE KIDS?

We believe that kids should learn about God and have fun doing it at church every single week.

At College Heights we make this a priority. The other things we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that we have a detailed check-in process for our children's program.

The first time that you visit you want to leave yourself an extra 10-15 minutes to get signed in at our new Family Check-in Center in the Atrium. Children's programming is provided for both our 9:15 and 11:00 AM services.

It’s a place to ask questions and get honest answers about church, family, and faith with no strings attached. We just want to get to know you!

If you would like to attend, please register so we can be prepared for you. (Childcare is provided.)

Please register yourself (adult),
any other adult joining you at the event (+ one)
and any children that will need childcare (child).

FAQs

We hope we can answer your questions below. But if not, please feel free to contact our Adult Connections Coordinator, Ashley King, at aking@chjoplin.org.

Is there Guest Parking?

We have parking on the South side of our Worship Center (facing Newman Rd) especially for guests. You will see Guest Parking flags and our volunteer Guest Services team in yellow vests who can direct you and answer any questions you may have.

What should I wear?

Come as you are! At College Heights, you will see anything from very casual to somewhat dressy, vintage dresses to skinny jeans, classic to hipster. What you wear isn’t really important. We are more concerned for you as a person than for your fashion sense!

What kinds of things do you do in your services?

We usually begin with music and singing led by a live band, followed by (in no particular order) practical teaching from the Bible that impacts your life no matter where you are on your spiritual journey, a quiet time to take communion, an opportunity to give an offering, and a time to pray together or individually. Sometimes there might be a video, a special song, or individuals sharing their personal stories of how God is changing their life.

What’s the music like?

There is a wide age-range of people who attend College Heights, and the music reflects that. On any given Sunday you will probably hear both classic hymns and current worship songs (although we definitely tend toward the modern stuff).

Do you have anything for kids?

We sure do!  We have age-appropriate classes: CH Babies (ages 0-2), CH Toddler (ages 2-4); CH Pre-K and K, and CH Elementary (grades 1-5) which meet during both services. We also have Bible school classes during the 9:15 AM service for grades 6-8 and grades 9-12.  (They join the adults in the main worship service at 11:00 AM.) The classes are all run by staff and volunteers who love God and love kids!

Do I need to know anything about dropping off my kid to a class?

If you are a first-time family, we have volunteers at the New Family Check-In Center in the Atrium and in our Kids Check In areas who will help you through a special check-in process that makes dropping off your children as easy as possible. We're here to make your visit the best it can possibly be.

Do you have classes for adults?

We offer a variety of Bible School classes for all ages on Sunday morning at 8:00 AM, 9:15 AM, and 11:00 AM.  Find a list here. For more information, stop by the Welcome Center in the Atrium.

Who are your leaders?

You can find out more about our staff and leadership here.

What about college age?

Glad you asked! We have a collection of Missouri Southern, Ozark Christian College, Crowder, Pitt State, and working individuals who meet each Sunday of the school year for evenings focusing on worship, community, discussion, and a good time. Our goal is to help prepare you for what's next in career, family, and Christian life.

At 11:00 AM we sit together during the second service (towards the front of a central floor section).

Do you have Emergency Response Procedures?

Yes, you can find out more here and watch a helpful video!

Do you meet any other time besides Sunday mornings?

We have classes on Wednesday night for all ages from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM during the school year. Some people are also involved once a week in small groups (some people call them Life Groups, Home Groups, etc.) where a group of about 8-20 meet in someone’s home and eat together, share what’s going on in their lives, and pray for each other.

Can I listen to sermons online?

You sure can! MP3s and videos of the weekly sermon can be listened to and downloaded from Vimeo or from iTunes. They are usually uploaded by Tuesday morning.

I'm interested in getting baptized. What's my next step?

Contact our receptionist at 624.6915 who will connect you with an appropriate minister. They will walk with you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

I speak Spanish. Do you have anything for me?

En el Centro de Información hay disponibles audífonos para escuchar en Español, el mensaje que se predica los domingos durante el servicio de las 11:00 AM.  |  Spanish translation devices are available at the Sign Up Counter and translation is offered during the Sunday 11:00 AM service.

I am hearing impaired; do you have anything available for me?

Hearing devices for the hearing impaired are available at the Sign Up Counter in the Atrium. We also provide the services of deaf interpreters at the 11:00 AM service.

What are you doing to make a difference in the community?

College Heights supports many organizations that are making a difference in our local community such as God’s Resort, Life House, and Life Choices. We also offer a variety of support groups for addictions, divorce, single moms, and others as a way to help people through real life struggles.

I would like to schedule a wedding or a funeral at College Heights. How do I go about doing this?

Call our receptionist at 624.6915 and she will be glad to help you arrange the details!
