THE SERMON

In part two of our SPEAK series Sy Huffer takes us through Mark 1:35-39 as we discuss the necesity of prayer before we speak, and the importance in allowing time in our day to be interrupted.

We have often heard, “Take good care of each other.” YES! But also take good care of the people who aren’t even here yet. Love your neighbors.

THE QUESTIONS

QUESTION 1: PRAY

Jesus made it a priority to get up very early in the morning to spend time praying. We learned that prayer is a key part of the equation that provides for us the eyes to see who needs to be shown compassion and to be told the good news of Jesus. How can prayer do this in your life? What do you need to give up in order to make this a priority?

QUESTION 2: SPEAK

Who is God calling you to speak to about Jesus? Who is close to you but far from God? What does it look like to share with them that you are a Christian and that you love Jesus?

QUESTION 3: GROW

We are all at different stages in our journey of following Jesus. So what does it look like for you to grow in your prayer life? And how can you take a step in showing compassion to those around you?

QUESTION 4: LOVE

What needs of people do you see around you that can show compassion to them and meet those needs? Who has been an annoyance in your life that perhaps God has placed there for you to show compassion to, to interrupt you so you can speak to them the good news of Jesus?
